A SMALL-TOWN CHRISTMAS WEEKEND 2023 SCHEDULE: DOWNTOWN BANNER ELK

All Weekend: Santa’s Mailbox is accepting Letters to Santa at the Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce.

6:30 PM: Christmas Tree Lighting at the Corner on Main
7:00 PM:  “A Banner Elk Christmas” – A Holiday Musical Variety Show (Advance tickets required)

Saturday, December 2

9 AM: 5K Reindeer Run organized by Williams YMCA & Kiwanis Club of Banner Elk (Registration & packet pickup begins at 8 AM)
8:30-10 AM: Breakfast with Santa at Banner Elk Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, the bottom floor of the church. Admission is a donation to their Preschool.
10:30-11 AM: Storytime with Santa & Fire Truck Tour at Banner Elk Fire and Rescue Station
11 AM-4 PM: Christmas Market & Kids’ Craft Activities at the Historic Banner Elk School
11 AM-2 PM: Bookmark making for kids in the Banner Elk Book Exchange
11 AM-2 PM: Tours of the Ensemble Stage
11 AM-2 PM: Christmas ornament making in Common Ground inside Historic Banner Elk School
11 AM-5 PM: My Best Friend’s Barkery offers free snacks for people and pooches
12 Noon: Christmas Melodies on Main – Avery High School Band will be playing Christmas melodies in the Corner Park on Main Street
Afternoon: Christmas Cookie Decorating hosted by the Blind Elk Taproom in the loft area.
3-4 PM: Ornament Decorating at the Bayou Smokehouse & Grill
3-3:45 PM: Community Carol Sing at Banner Elk Presbyterian Church
6 PM: Christmas Parade on Main Street
6-9 PM: Christmas in the Park at Tate-Evans Park including Luminaries, train rides, a synchronized Christmas light show, hot chocolate by the bonfire, Lees-McRae College’s Highlanders caroling group, and more.
