Yancey County Human society Quick clarification. We had an incident yesterday where a family group wanted to walk down the dog halls to see the dogs. Our policy is that if you are interested in adopting we will talk to you about the different animals available and we will bring the dogs out to meet you. They were very unhappy about not being able to go down the halls and have let us know.
Having people wander up and down the halls increases barrier reactivity in the dogs and decreases their chances for adoption. It is for the dogs mental health and what we believe to be best for them. It is NOT that the staff is too lazy to help you. They love bringing dogs out and no one is happier when a match is made than our kennel techs!
