Fraud Ring Investigation Results in Multiple Buncombe County Arrests

Buncombe County --   Nine individuals with connections to a local fraud ring have been charged by detectives from the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office.  

Detectives discovered that Wesley McCrary and Angela Queen were in charge of the fraud network after a five-month investigation.  Charges have also been brought against seven other people.  

Checks that were stolen from the mail, cleaned, and either retyped on a typewriter or stamped with one of the suspects' names were used in the operation.  Businesses and members of the neighborhood were among the victims.  A significant quantity of checks, credit cards, and stolen mail were also found by detectives.  For their assistance in apprehending Queen and McCrary on June 4 in Marion, the U.S. Marshals Carolina Regional Fugitive Task Force was acknowledged by BCSO.
