Man Charged in Fatal Asheville Accident

Asheville --   Asheville Police Department announced an update on a fatal accident wnctimes reported on last week fatal-motor-vehicle-accident-in-asheville 

Asheville Police have charged a man following a fatal motor vehicle collision that resulted in the death of a motorist on July 6th.

After completing the investigation,  the Asheville Police Department, along with consultation with the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office, charged Walter Francis Smith (12/10/1962) for Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle, Unsafe Movement, Unsafe Tires, Violation of Vehicle Registration Provisions, and Expired Registration Plate. 

Smith turned himself in today and was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under NO BOND (ineligible for release) by a magistrate under the Pretrial Integrity Act.
